Andrew Theis is a software engineer with over 20 years of professional experience building impactful products and teams. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from the Art Institute and has spent his career turning ideas into widely adopted software and hardware innovations.
While still in college, Andrew created the original Prop Hunt game mode for Garry's Mod. What started as a simple mod quickly became a cultural phenomenon after major content creators—including PewDiePie, Markiplier, and others—featured it in videos and streams that collectively gained hundreds of millions of views. The mode's popularity helped it spread beyond modding communities to influence similar game modes in billion-dollar franchises such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, and more.
Over his career, Andrew has played a key role in building foundational mobile software teams at companies including mophie, Charles Schwab, and Weedmaps. His deep understanding of Apple platforms enabled him to build the software that powered products such as mophie's patented, which defied perceived platform limitations to expand iPhone storage capacity.
Originally from Southern California, Andrew relocated to Austin, Texas in 2015. It was here that the city's fast-paced growth and social environment planted the seed that ultimately grew into creating Dextr.
