Meeting someone through a friend or colleague gives you a useful piece of context that a name and phone number cannot capture. A few months later, you might remember the conversation but forget who brought you together.
Dextr’s Introduced By field keeps that connection on the contact’s profile. You can see who made the introduction, open their profile, and remember how the two people know each other.
In this example, Alex Morgan introduced you to Maya Chen at a design workshop. Alex and Maya are colleagues. You’ll record Alex as Maya’s introducer, then keep the occasion and conversation alongside that connection.
1. Open the person you were introduced to
Tap Contacts in the bottom menu, find the new contact, and open their profile. Select the contact-info tab, shown as an ID-card icon beneath the contact’s main actions.
Find Introduced By below First Met. Start on the profile of the person you met: because Alex introduced you to Maya, you’ll make this change on Maya’s profile.
If you have not saved the new contact yet, add them first. You can enter their details manually or scan their business card, then return to the saved profile to add the introduction.
2. Choose who made the introduction
Under Introduced By, tap Search Contacts. Choose the introducer from the suggestions or type their name to find them.
For this example, select Alex Morgan. Check that you have the right person if several contacts share a name.
If the introducer is not in Dextr, enter their name and choose Add followed by that name. Dextr lets you create the person as part of this flow. You can fill in their phone number, email, and other details later.
3. Record how the two people know each other
When the contacts do not already have a relationship recorded, Dextr asks you to choose one. Read the question at the top of the selector: in this example, Who is Alex to Maya?
Choose Colleague because that describes Alex’s relationship to Maya. If Dextr already has a relationship between them, it uses that connection and may skip this selector.
This choice is separate from Relation to You. Maya can be your Close Friend while Alex is her Colleague. For relationships such as parent and child, pay particular attention to which person the question names first.

4. Save the introduction
Review the selected name and relationship under Introduced By, then tap Save beside the section heading.
You should now see Alex Morgan and Colleague as a normal row on Maya’s profile. The introduction is available the next time you open her contact.
5. Revisit or correct the connection
Open Maya’s profile whenever you need to remember who connected you. Tap Alex Morgan in the Introduced By row to open Alex’s profile.
To correct the attribution, tap the pencil-in-a-square icon beside Introduced By. Remove the current selection with its small ×, search for the right person, confirm the relationship if asked, and tap Save. To leave the introducer blank, remove the selection and save.
Record the person who actually introduced you. A shared tag, workplace, or event alone does not tell Dextr who made an introduction.
Add the story around the introduction
The name of your introducer is one part of the memory. Use the nearby First Met section for the date, occasion, location, and a short note about why you wanted to stay connected.
For example: “Alex introduced us at the design workshop. Maya coordinates accessible community programs. Send her the large-print checklist.”
Link the meeting to an Event or Place when useful. In the captures above, the workshop includes 12 people met and a library venue, so the introduction sits within a recognizable occasion. Follow How to Use Events in Dextr to create that shared occasion, add new and familiar attendees, and keep useful notes with each person.
Use a Journal Entry for later conversations, and set a follow-up reminder for anything you promised to do. You can also make a note to thank the person who connected you.
Start with your most recent introduction. Saving who brought you together takes a moment while the memory is fresh, and makes it much easier to pick up the relationship later.
