How to Restore Your Dextr Pro Subscription

A blue restore arrow surrounds an open padlock on a paper phone, with journal pages and message bubbles nearby.

You open Dextr to follow up with a group or add a note about a conversation, and a feature you already paid for asks you to upgrade. It can feel as though your Pro subscription has become disconnected.

The first step is to restore your purchase. Dextr checks the App Store for your existing access and refreshes what is available on this device. Restoring an existing purchase does not start a second subscription or charge you again.

Quick route on iPhone: Home → Settings (gear) → Restore Purchases.

1. Open Dextr Settings

Tap Home in the bottom menu. At the top of Home, tap the gear icon to open Settings.

Tap Home, then the Settings gear at the top of the screen.

On Mac, choose Dextr → Settings from the menu bar. You can also press Command-comma.

2. Tap Restore Purchases

Scroll down in Settings and tap Restore Purchases, just below Contact Platforms. Keep Dextr open while the restore finishes.

Choose Restore Purchases in Dextr Settings.

If Settings shows Modify Subscription instead, Dextr already recognizes a Pro subscription. Use that option to review it. A recognized lifetime Pro purchase does not need a recurring subscription.

3. Complete Apple's sign-in prompt if it appears

Apple may ask you to sign in during restoration. Use the Apple Account that originally purchased Dextr Pro. If no prompt appears, let the restore finish normally.

If Apple asks you to sign in, use the account that owns your Dextr Pro purchase.

Your App Store purchase account can differ from the account you use for iCloud. On iPhone, check Settings → your name → Media & Purchases to see the account used for purchases. Having your contacts appear through iCloud does not by itself confirm that the correct purchase account is in use. Apple explains this distinction in its guide to Apple Accounts used for purchases.

4. Try the Pro feature again

Close Settings and return to the feature that asked you to upgrade, such as Journal Entries or Text Blasts.

When Dextr recognizes your active subscription or lifetime purchase, the included Pro features become available. If they still appear locked, work through the checks below before starting another subscription.

Why Pro access can appear disconnected

There are several possible causes. A restore refreshes purchase recognition; it cannot extend a subscription that has ended.

A new device or a fresh installation

After replacing a phone or reinstalling Dextr, the app may need to retrieve your existing purchase on that device. Restore Purchases is the place to start. Apple supports restoring eligible upgrades and subscriptions inside the app where you bought them.

If you are setting up another iPhone, iPad, or Mac, also follow our multiple-device guide to connect iCloud, check that your existing data has arrived, and keep one Primary Sync Device.

A different Apple Account is being used for purchases

A purchase made with one Apple Account will not be found under a different account. This can happen after changing the App Store sign-in or setting up a device with another account.

Check the Apple receipt or your purchase history to identify the account that owns Dextr Pro, then restore using that account.

The subscription or trial has ended

On iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Dextr and review its status and dates. An expired subscription needs renewal if you want to continue using its paid features; restoring does not restart the paid period.

If you previously canceled, check the displayed expiration date to see whether the access period has ended. Apple’s subscription settings guide explains where to find the subscription and identify the account that was charged.

Bought lifetime Pro? Look for that one-time purchase in your purchase history instead of expecting a recurring plan in Subscriptions.

Apple could not complete a payment

A billing problem can interrupt access to subscriptions. If Apple reports an unpaid balance or a payment issue, follow its billing troubleshooting steps. After Apple resolves the payment and the subscription is active, return to Dextr and restore again.

A connection or App Store service problem interrupted the check

Restoration needs to reach the App Store. If it cannot complete, confirm that the device is online and check for an Apple service outage. Try again after the connection or service recovers. Apple’s App Store connection guide covers these checks.

What the restore messages mean

“No purchases found to restore.”

Dextr did not find an eligible purchase that grants access after checking. Confirm the purchase account and subscription status. This message alone does not tell you whether the cause is a different account or an expired plan.

“Failed to restore purchases. Please try again later.”

The restore did not complete. Check your connection, complete any Apple sign-in prompt, and try again. Canceling that prompt can also produce this message; it does not prove that your subscription has expired.

Dextr displays Restoring Purchases Failed with a message to try again later.
An incomplete restore can show this message. Check the sign-in and connection before trying again.

If the problem continues, update Dextr, restart your device, and try restoring once more. Apple also recommends checking that in-app purchases are allowed on the device in its purchase restoration guidance.

Still missing Pro? Contact us

If Apple shows an active Dextr subscription or your lifetime purchase is in the correct account’s history, but Dextr still does not recognize it, contact Dextr Support.

Tell us which device and Dextr version you are using, the exact restore message, whether the purchase is a subscription or lifetime Pro, and whether access still works on another device. These details help us narrow down the issue.

Once access is restored, pick up where you left off: record a conversation, send a Text Blast, or continue setting up your other devices.
